I wasn't able to test the keybed of the Keylab Essential but the NI A-series is said to be best in class for MIDI controllers under $500. However the capacitive knobs on the A61, coupled with the baby screen to remind you what's mapped to what (you can label each encoder and page), will be super handy for reference once NI puts out support for MIDI memory.

If you're going with included software, at least the NI gear comes with full versions of some decent instruments. I don't know if you can use Analog Lab to control V-collection instruments if you happened to pony up for the full versions. The keyboard itself is solid and built really well, it doesnt feel cheap at all. I couldn't even adjust arp rates on the presets, it was pretty rough.
